The Camp Lejeune Justice Act

The Camp Lejeune Justice Act is a federal law that was enacted in 2022. The Act provides healthcare to individuals who were exposed to contaminated drinking water at Camp Lejeune, a Marine Corps base in North Carolina, between 1953 and 1987. The contaminated water contained toxic chemicals such as trichloroethylene (TCE) and perchloroethylene (PCE), which have been linked to various health problems, including cancer, neurological disorders, and birth defects.

The Camp Lejeune Justice Act also provides compensation to individuals who were harmed by the contaminated water, including family members of veterans who were exposed. The Act acknowledges the responsibility of the government for the harm caused by the contamination and provides a means for those who were affected to receive the care and support they need.
